Round-up: Meet CC’s anniversary flavor … Nola chef inducted into hall of fame … Zagat names top fast-food chains

Strawberry shortcake: CC’s Community Coffee House customers chose Strawberry Shortcake as the official 90th anniversary Mochasippi Drink Flavor during the Select-a-Sippi contest among the baristas across South Louisiana. “The Strawberry Shortcake Mochasippi is a fruity drink with strawberry flavor and just a touch of white chocolate to give it the right amount of sweetness,” says the winning drink’s creator, Amy Schexnayder, a barista at CC’s on Kaliste Saloom in Lafayette. Creole queen: The Southern Food and Beverage Museum in New Orleans next month will dedicate and rename of the Louisiana Gallery to honor the life work of New Orleans native Leah Chase, chef and owner of the restaurant Dooky Chase’s. Chase, who sometimes teaches cooking classes at The Panhandler, has earned the title “Queen of Creole Cuisine.” The ceremony starts at 10 a.m. July 1 at the museum, and a gala takes place the evening of July 2. Wendy’s was named best mega-chain (more than 5,000 locations), while In-N-Out Burger got the top ratings among large chains. P.F. Chang’s won for best full-service chain, while Ben & Jerry’s was rated as the best quick refreshment chain. Zagat officials say the current economic times meant it made sense to review.
