Round-up: Industry innovator dies … Cupcakes for a cause … Five guys looking at B.R. market

Seafood industry loses innovator: Eighty-one-year-old Ernest Andrew Voisin, inventor of a method for pressure-treating oysters to kill bacteria, died last Thursday. Voisin was named Seafood Business Person of the Year in 2001 by Seafood Business Magazine for his high-pressure oyster-processing patent. Sweet charity: The Ambrosia Bakery is making things a little sweeter for cancer patients by teaming up with hundreds of bakeries across the U.S. to sell “Cupcakes for a Cause.” All specially decorated cupcakes sold at Ambrosia between Sept. 21 and 27 will see that a portion of the profits gets donated to CancerCare, an organization that provides free professional support services to children and families affected by cancer. High five: Five Guys Burgers and Fries, a popular DC-based chain restaurant, is scouting possible locations in Baton Rouge. The Zagat-rated restaurants are known for particularly thick and juicy burgers, and their recipe has won them “best burger” accolades all over the east coast.
