Round-up: Garage restaurant possible; Report says what not to eat
Down on Third Street: Plans to put a police substation and an art gallery in the storefront of a state-run parking garage on Third Street are on hold as the agent negotiates with a restaurant that is interested in the space. There had been talk about setting up a substation in the middle of the downtown arts and entertainment district, and for the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge to open an exhibition space in the building. Brad Way of NAI/Latter & Blum says the substation and the gallery are still possibilities if the private sector client falls through. Popeye’s does well: Men’s Health has evaluated 66 national chain restaurants and graded them for healthy eating options. Some of the results are surprising: McDonalds scored a B+ and Popeyes got a B because of healthy menu items and low-calorie sandwiches. The worst grades went to sit-down casual dining chains such as Chili’s, which earned a D, and Romano’s Macaroni Grill, which got a D-. Applebee’s, Outback Steakhouse, IHOP and T.G.I. Friday’s got an F for not disclosing nutritional information. Read the report cards here.
