Round-up: Executive order to boost shrimp purchases falls short … Fire at Roul’s Deli likely arson

Shrimpy sales: An executive order signed by Governor Bobby Jindal in September to increase the amount of shrimp that state agencies by from Louisiana fishermen has made little impact so far, according to the Division of Administration’s Office of State Purchasing. The executive order stated that these groups “should find ways in which they can increase the amount of Louisiana shrimp that they procure for any program they control which provides meals or food,” with the obvious targets being school cafeterias, prisons and government buildings. Hot kitchen: Fire officials are blaming arson for a fire that broke out at Roul’s Deli outside of the north gates of LSU on Tuesday night. No one was injured, but the damage to the kitchen is estimated at $40,000, and the owner says he expects to remain closed for a week or two while repairs are made.
