Safe Community: The American Institute of Baking, an corporation which rates food safety and quality for commercial food processing facilities, has given local java giant Community Coffee a “superior” rating for the 7th consecutive year. CC’s passed AIB’s stringent new cleanliness standards with flying colors. Hail to the king: The 2009 Great American Seafood Cook-Off in New Orleans led to a home-turf victory for Commander’s Palace executive chef Tory McPhail, who was crowned “King of American Seafood.” The winning dish, a Creole seafood mixed grill, won out over the dishes of competitors from 15 states. Green Orleans: New Orleans made number one on The Huffington Post’s list of top “green” dining cities; using “green” to mean food using mainly organic, sustainable ingredients. The article praised N.O. eateries Cochon and La Divinia Gelateria in particular for their emphasis on using only local products in their recipes.
