Round-up: Chimes expands on Northshore; Circa 1857 preps for future growth
-
Chimes (farther) East: The Chimes plans to open a location just outside Covington on U.S. Highway 190 by fall 2010. Tim Hood, who co-owns the restaurant, says a 7.3-acre site has been purchased for the restaurant. He said the Covington location will be slightly more upscale and perhaps have different specials or whatever. Future expansion: Circa 1857, the Mid City art and antique store, has purchased some property nearby for a future expansion, which will help expand Yvette Marie’s Café. Also look out for breakfast and dinner beginning in June. Owner David Bruno, who also owns the Mellow Mushroom, plans to expand Yvette Marie’s offerings beyond lunch. Plans are to triple the amount of existing seating in the café. Selling breakfast and dinner should be a good move, since there’s a shortage of restaurants between downtown and Mid City. Yvette Marie’s will open for the first time this Thursday night, as part of a third Thursday art show series at Circa.
