Round-up: Camille’s set to open second location on Siegen; Varnedoe’s heads for the big city

-

Country comes to town: Chef Jason Varnedoe is bringing his “upscale, down South” restaurant to the Kress at Third and Main mixed-use building in August. Varnedoe’s will will be moderately priced and include fresh seafood and steaks. Varnedoe’s last restaurant was at The Bluffs, which recently closed. Encore: Camille’s Sidewalk Café is set to open its second restaurant in Baton Rouge after the chain signed a lease for the former Siegen Lane Starbucks location. Camille’s, which sells sandwiches, salads, paninis and pizzas, is expected to open in July. The Starbucks on Siegen closed in July as part of a wave of store shutdowns aimed at revitalizing the company. Tulsa, Okla.-based Camille’s has nearly 85 locations across the United States.
