‘Rolling!’ – Independent film begins shooting in B.R., more movies slated for 2014

Baton Rouge will be home to an independent film crew and its stars for about a month.

Principal photography began Tuesday on Zipper, a movie starring Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring, Insidious) and Lena Headey (Game of Thrones), and directed by Mora Stephens. The cast also includes Richard Dreyfuss (Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind).

The feature is scheduled to shoot in Baton Rouge through Feb. 24, according to Baton Rouge Film Commission Executive Director Liza Kelso. Film crews were seen shooting off Highland Road on Tuesday, near the intersection of Nelson Drive.

The film revolves around the story of a successful U.S. Attorney who is groomed for a Senate position, but then becomes involved in a dark situation that could destroy everything he has.

Zipper is one of three previously announced movies slated to begin production soon in Baton Rouge.

Bad Ass 3, starring Danny Trejo (Machete) and Danny Glover (Lethal Weapon series), will be shot in the city between Feb. 3 and March 1.

Meanwhile, the reboot of Fantastic Four from Chronicle director Josh Trank and starring Michael B. Jordan will begin shooting on March 24. According to a report from Baton Rouge Business Report, the Marvel Comics/Twentieth Century Fox production will use virtually all of the 150,000-square-foot space at Celtic Media Centre.

Down the road, franchise entries Jurassic World and Terminator 5 will be filmed in New Orleans.
