Roll ‘Tides’

Oscar-nominated director Rob Marshall took the helm of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise with the forth installment, subtitled On Stranger Tides and new on DVD and Blu-ray this week. Johnny Depp returns as rascally and charismatic seafarer Captain Jack Sparrow this time on a quest through uncharted waters and islands in search of the legendary fountain of youth. Penelope Cruz joins the fray as a former love interest who just may be putting a con rather than the moves on Sparrow as he battles with the deadly pirate Blackbeard and Geoffrey Rush’s salty and always shifty Barbossa. Ian McShane of Deadwood fame stars as Blackbeard while Dame Judi Dench, Astrid Berges-Frisbey and Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards co-star. 3D. Rated PG.
