Rock ‘n’ roll vets play The Pelican House
Rockabilly and rock ‘n’ roll will get patrons moving this weekend at The Pelican House. Baton Rouge’s own The Bedlamville Triflers kick off Friday night’s show at 8 p.m. Dash Rip Rock, a high-octane roots rock band out of New Orleans, will perform at 11 p.m. While the former band takes a nod from sounds such as Reverend Horton Heat and Brian Setzer, the latter has been touring consistently and released a new album in 2012, Black Liquor. JJ Grey & Mofro, The Revivalists. Listen to Southern rock steeped in soul at The Varsity. Tickets are $17 in advance and available online. Tickets are $20 at the door. Doors open at 7 p.m. The show starts at 8 p.m.
Cory Landry. The singer-songwriter performs a free show at Tallulah’s inside the Renaissance Hotel. 6 p.m.-9 p.m.
Tribute to John Prine. Steve Judice, Jim Standley, Clay Parker and many more present original songs inspired by the singer-songwriter at this free show at Rocco’s New Orleans Style Po Boys & Café (Map it!). 7:30 p.m.
Strugglebear, Fvmes, The Melters. Local punk rock bands take the stage at Culture Bar. 9 p.m.
Rock N Rowe. Chase Tyler performs in this edition of the free weekly concert series at Perkins Rowe. 6 p.m.-9 p.m.
