“The first band I was truly excited to see in concert was The Coasters, who had not had a hit since 1959. I was in second grade, and they were one of my favorite groups at the time, along with Jan & Dean. When my dad found out they were doing a show at the Baker High School auditorium, we made plans to go. I was probably one of the youngest in the crowd, but I still sang along to ‘Charlie Brown,’ ‘Yakety Yak,’ and my favorite, ‘Poison Ivy.’”
