Riffs: Rebecca Hamilton, state librarian
“My first summer job was working at the West Baton Rouge Parish Library on the Bookmobile. I was an avid reader and a regular patron of the Bookmobile and the library, so when a job became available I applied. That summer we traveled the rural roads of the parish providing library service to those who could not get to the library. I saw how this service deeply affected people’s lives in a very meaningful way and how it changed their lives for the better. It fundamentally changed my life. From that first summer (19 years ago) I have never worked at any other job.”
