The Mission stars Jeremy Irons as a Jesuit monk seeking to start a missionary colony in the jungles of South America, and Robert DeNiro as a mercenary and slave trader who finds himself seeking redemption among the same natives he once sought to enslave. Ennio Morricone provides the epic soundtrack and possibly his best work, while Chris Menges won the Oscar for best cinematography.”
