“I most admire Darren Aronofsky for his originality. He has a certain way of telling a story. Pi, for instance, is a mind-bending example of how he can take a tough question and turn it into what he thinks the answer to that question should be. As a director, he isn’t afraid to take chances, like making black-and-white films. One of his unique techniques is the way the camera follows an actor or actress. He uses quick shot changes when an actor is performing something crucial to the theme in a particular scene. When Aronofsky is directing a film, he is directing with both eyes open, not just one. He sees a scene all the way through by paying attention to detail. My favorite film of his has to be Requiem for a Dream.”
