Revel in Ravel at BRSO

The Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra invites you into the concert hall at the Baton Rouge River Center for the creative genius of Claude Debussy, Manuel de Falla, Jennifer Higdon and Maurice Ravel. The concert begins with Debussy’s dream-like L’aprčs-midi d’un faune, followed by Spanish Impressionist Manuel de Falla’s charmed nocturne for piano and orchestra, Nights in the Gardens of Spain, performed by pianist Anton Nel. Blue Cathedral, composed by Jennifer Higdon, carries the tradition of the musical impressionists into the 21st Century, incorporating novel instrumentation, including the glass harmonica and Chinese bells. The evening finishes with Anton Nel’s performance of Ravel’s jazz inspired Piano Concerto in G, a product of inspirations from Ravel’s U.S. travels. Tickets are available at brso.org.
