Reading writers at LSU
The LSU School of Music will play host to two estimable writers of incredible talent this Sunday, as part of LSU’s Readers & Writers program. M. Nourbese Philip, author of the book-length poem Zong!, will read excerpts from this dramatized true story of a ship full of African slaves who were drowned so the ship’s owners could collect insurance. Novelist and short story writer Robert Antoni will read excerpts from his most recent works—his realistic storytelling style has been compared to that of James Joyce and Gabriel Marquez. Find out more at the Readers & Writers Facebook page. 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Free and open to the public.
