Pullin’ Pork food truck takes to the streets
Lifelong Baton Rouge residents Neal and Paige Ashby are bringing a little taste of Memphis to the Red Stick streets with their new Pullin’ Pork food truck. Serving up the eponymous pulled pork, as well as tender brisket, barbecued chicken and a sleeper hit dish called the Memphis taco—meat with coleslaw and salsa—they’re already making waves with Baton Rouge foodies.
The sauces, recipes and rubs come courtesy of well-known and long-established barbecue joint Lillie’s Q in Destin, Fla., helmed by Quito McKenna. McKenna’s recipes have won multiple awards at Memphis in May, the world’s largest pork barbecue competition, and Ashby trained with the team for two years before venturing out on his own—with McKenna’s blessing.
Everything the truck serves—from the peach cobbler and banana pudding to the baked beans and potato salad—is made from scratch daily. You can find them at facebook.com/PullinPork, or at pullinporkbatonrouge.com.
