Pointing you toward the Halloween hook-up
Halloween’s best-kept secret is in a Central costume shop. Virginia Rabalais, a sewing genius for decades, has endless costumes that don’t look like they came out of a generic plastic bag from a big-box retail outlet. Leprechauns. Playboy bunnies. Matadors. Creepy Easter bunnies. Pirates. Smurfette. Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. Saloon girls. Kermit and Miss Piggy. Star Wars characters. She’s stitched them all at Capital Costumes, just about 10 miles outside Baton Rouge. Rent a costume, such has this “bull-headed princess” (Candice Pedeaux, pictured), today. To get there, take I-110 North to the airport exit. Take a right at the light off the exit ramp and travel 8 miles, then take a left on Devall Road. Capital Costumes will be 1.4 miles down on the right. 13621 Devall Road. Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Call 261-4445 for details. (Photo by Rebecca Breeden)
