Plenty of live music for Halloween
Halloween night is a good one for original music around Baton Rouge. Fresh off the release of their eighth album, Athens’ Elf Power will perform at the Spanish Moon with prolific singer-songwriter Vic Chesnutt opening. 10:30 p.m. $10 online at ticketweb.com. 18 and up. The Molly Ringwalds bring their 1980s-covers back to The Varsity for the sixth-annual Moll-o-Ween party. Show at 9:45 p.m. $12 in advance; $15 at the door. 18 and up. If that’s not enough to soothe your evil soul, Alabama’s The Dexateens will be at Chelsea’s Café, giving those costumed creatures a bit of southern rock. 11 p.m. 18 and up. The tradition of the Carlotta Street Halloween block party continues. City permits have been issued, and music by An Empire at Sea and Spring Break Shark Attack!, among others.
