If you’re already in the Big Easy, why not do as the locals do and head over to the “The Fly,” Audubon Park’s famous waterfront hangout. It’s a great place to regroup after a long day of sightseeing in the city. 6500 Magazine St., New Orleans, LA 70118. (504) 581-4629. auduboninstitute.org
The Cabildo
While you’re touring Jackson Square, take a little time to expand your knowledge of the city’s history by touring the Cabildo. A remnant of Spanish rule in New Orleans, it is the site of the Louisiana Purchase and also served as New Orleans City Hall and the Louisiana Supreme Court, hearing such landmark cases as Plessy vs. Ferguson. Interesting but compact, it’s a fantastic way to break up a long day of sightseeing in the Crescent City. 701 Chartres St., New Orleans, LA 70130. (504) 568-6968. crt.state.la.us
