On the ‘Take’

Topher Grace graduated from the 1970s—he starred in the long-running sitcom That ‘70s Show—to the 1980s earlier this year with a John Hughes-inspired comedy Take Me Home Tonight. Set over the course of one wild night at a debauched Labor Day party, Grace stars as an aimless college graduate who believes this night is his last best chance to impress his dream girl played by Teresa Palmer. Featuring plenty of classic Reagan-era songs and cameos by indie comedy stars like Michael Ian Black, Demetri Martin and Bon Odenkirk, Take Me Home Tonight is a dizzy, glorified B-movie that throws back to a time when all a film needed was a guy, a girl, a crush and a party. Anna Faris and Michelle Trachtenberg co-star. Rated R.
