On the road: Hogs for the Cause

The annual Hogs for the Cause cook-off and food festival starts Friday in New Orleans’ City Park at 4 p.m. The region’s top chefs, professional barbecue teams and backyard cooking fanatics will compete for the grand title of “High on the Hog.” Awards will go to those who cook the best in the whole hog, ribs, pork butt/shoulder, porkpourri, sauce, fundraising and fan favorite categories. Among the musical performances is Earphunk on Friday night and The Hold Steady on Saturday night. General admission tickets are $15. Children ages 12 and younger get in free.
