Where are they now: Makeup artist Eric Vosburg

When we interviewed Eric Vosburg for our January 2014 “People to Watch” issue, the Gonzales native was getting ready for a big move.
Vosburg had just graduated from East Ascension High School and was setting his sights on New York City. He had already made a name for himself in Baton Rouge and New Orleans as a go-to makeup artist for fashion shoots, music videos and films.
Now was the chance for this young man to make it in a larger market, and he hasn’t disappointed.

Singer Meghan Trainor (known for her hit “All About That Bass”) booked him for two major New York concerts and corresponding appearances on The Today Show and a Yahoo Music segment.
He’s also worked with musician Marina and the Diamonds and Orange is the New Black star Diane Guerrero.
Cutting his teeth in south Louisiana helped Vosburg develop a fun signature aesthetic without the pressure of the kind of competition prevalent in a big city, he says. “I think that starting off in a smaller market has been beneficial in the long run because it’s allowed me to hone in on my craft and experiment with different techniques and ideas.”
For a natural talent like Vosburg, it wasn’t hard to adjust to this hectic new environment either.
“It’s surprisingly been a seamless transition from living in Louisiana to living in New York,” he says. “The city is such a diverse, culturally rich place and there’s no shortage of inspiration.” ericvosburg.com
