Nooley’s is back
For 13 years, Jacob Couvillion heard how Baton Rouge missed Nooley’s.
The po-boy shop had four area locations before his father Johnny closed up his shops in 1999. Now, Nooley’s is back—on a smaller scale—setting up shop inside Game Day Daiquiris, 11 a.m.-9 p.m. seven days a week.
“It’s exciting to bring it back here,” Couvillion says. “[Game Day owner] Robert McClaren grew up and knew about Nooley’s and saw that my wife and I brought it back in Prairieville.”

For Jacob, Nooley’s always will be a classic, no-frills sandwich and po-boy shop. Among the signature items are the fresh-cut curly fries, the shrimp po-boy, the steak burger and Nooley’s Special—a ham, turkey, roast beef and Swiss cheese sandwich fully dressed on muffaletta bread.
“I have people come 1,000 times and never get anything other than that,” Couvillion says.
