News reporters make spectacle of politicians

-

The satirical Gridiron Show returns this year with a cast of new faces, new Jindal jabs and reappearances by “Edwin Edwards.” The annual Gridiron pokes fun at Louisiana politics by the very people who write its history (our sources say they’ll even make fun of Les Miles and radio’s Jim Engster). Is that fair? You’ll have to answer that for yourself by showing up. This year’s line-up of actors includes reporters Melinda Deslatte of the Associated Press, Claire Hatty of WBRZ, Leo Honeycutt, Julie Baxter and Avery Davidson. Two performances Friday and Saturday at the Nicholson Post American Legion Hall on 151 Wooddale Blvd. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; curtains rise at 7:45 p.m. Tickets for Friday’s show are $25; Saturday’s show, which includes heavy hor d’oeuvres, are $50. It all funds scholarships for college journalism students and donations to local public TV and radio stations. For details e-mail [email protected].
