New treats for your home freezer
As temperatures outside climb precipitously closer to the 100-degree mark, Kleinpeter Dairy and Bluebell are both rolling out new treats to satisfy your cravings for cold. Kleinpeter’s new series of desserts, Crčme de la Kleinpeter, is a super-premium array of staff favorites as well as customer suggestions in flavors from strawberry cheesecake to toffee mocha. Every flavor is made with extra butterfat content that makes this tasty treat even more decadent than the usual offerings—even if it’s a little harder on the waistline. The company’s ice cream “chef,” Don Gerald, had been experimenting with richer versions of already-existing flavors for some time, and asked permission to play with some ingredients that friends and customers of the dairy had been requesting. The resulting flavors are “a combination of customer request and staff favorites, almost like a private label,” says Jeff Kleinpeter, the dairy’s president. Look for the distinctive pint tubs with metallic rims, and sample your way through all nine flavors. And if ice cream isn’t enough for you, Bluebell is rolling out a new flavor for summer that combines three different desserts, appropriately called the Dessert Trio. Chunks of sweet pecan brownie, soft chocolate chip cookies and chewy chocolate cake mingle within a smooth vanilla ice cream—it’s like eating three desserts ŕ la mode with every bite. This dessert combo is already landing in stores in both gallon and pint sizes, so make sure to look carefully.
