Nazi-killin’ business
There was nowhere else for the overused WWII epic to go than toward schlock, and guilty pleasure director Quentin Tarantino was more than willing to oblige last August with his Nazi-hunting epic Inglourious Basterds. Brad Pitt stars as a throat-scarred hillbilly named Lt. Aldo Raine who assembles a rag-tag unit of Jewish American soldiers with one mission and one mission only: to collect Nazi scalps. Pitt’s men forage through enemy-occupied France and brutally eliminate members of the Third Reich. When the Basterds meet a young French-Jewish woman who runs a theater where every major German officer, including Hitler himself, are scheduled to attend a film premiere, Pitt plans to use the event as a point of attack and cut the head off of the Nazi regime in one swift stroke. Diane Kruger, B.J. Novak and Eli Roth co-star. Rated R.
