My ‘Casa’ is your casa

Funnyman Will Ferrell has satirized many things in his career—mostly various sports and an outdated form of dimwitted male bravado—but this Friday, his target is pretty far outside the box—or should we say, south of the border. Casa de mi Padre is a Spanish-language spoof of the kind of melodrama popular on Telemundo, and finds Ferrell starring as the eldest son of a Mexican rancher tasked with saving his family’s home when financial troubles strike and his younger brother ensnares the modest clan in a war with the country’s most feared drug czar. Gael Garcia Bernal, Diego Luna and Genesis Rodriguez co-star. Rated R.
