Music: Best Bets
Just a few years ago, when they started out as Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears, the Austin-based soul ensemble was getting pegged by Esquire magazine and others as a band to watch. The band is often compared sonically to the likes of James Brown and Howlin’ Wolf for its funky soul music with a bit of plugged-in Texas rock fit for Austin City Limits. Dropping Honeybears from the name, though keeping the full roster of players on board, Black Joe Lewis is making a stop at Chelsea’s Café Nov. 22 in support of the new album, Electric Slave. chelseascafe.com
