Music: Best Bets
You know that guitar lick, even if you don’t know Dick Dale. Many remember its reverb-heavy guitar lines from Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction, but Dale’s influence started way before that. The track, “Miserlou,” helped solidify Dale as the “King of the Surf Guitar.” He performs at Mud and Water April 14. The venue, quickly becoming one of the best places in town to check out music, also hosts Generationals (April 11), Lost Bayou Ramblers (April 12) and Shawn Mullins (April 20). facebook.com/MudandWater

APRIL 17: The Cave Singers host an early show (7 p.m.) of indie folk jams at Spanish Moon. thespanishmoon.com
APRIL 19: The Brooklyn-based indie rock band CHAPPO joins forces with local synth-pop band Prom Date for a set at the Spanish Moon.
IN NEW ORLEANS: Put on your cowboy boots for George Strait and Martina McBride April 13 at New Orleans Arena. And because alt-country is what country music used to sound like, we would be remiss if we didn’t mention that Son Volt is playing at the House of Blues April 17.
