Munch on barbecue ribs for charity Saturday
Corky’s Ribs & BBQ will host a rib-eating contest for charity at noon Saturday. Contestants have three minutes to devour as many St. Louis-style pork ribs as they can in the Olympic Rib Eating Contest at Corky’s, 10455 Reiger Rd. near Siegen Lane and Interstate 10. Waitresses from Hooters will serve contestants, who will compete in heats of five to 10 diners. Proceeds will benefit the Battered Women’s Shelter of Baton Rouge. Some local celebrities are expected among the judges for the event, which is co-sponsored by Coca-Cola, Budweiser, Miller Lite and Hooters. The hungry winner will receive $250 and $100 in gift certificates; second-place prize is $100 and $50 in gift certificates, and third-place prize is $50 and $25 in gift certificates. All three top finishers also will receive a Corky’s Christmas ham. Registration is $20. To find out more or to pre-register, click here.
