Mugshots to close, shoot for younger market

This weekend will be Mugshots Grill & Bar’s last weekend in its Towne Center location, says Sean Cronin, owner and operator of the franchise’s Baton Rouge restaurant. “It’s a temporary close-down,” Cronin says. “We’re moving locations.” While Cronin, who bought the Baton Rouge location in May, wouldn’t say where Mugshots’ next location will be, he says the grill is looking for a younger, campus-oriented market. The new location will be smaller in size than the restaurant’s current space at 7425 Corporate Blvd. Despite the name, Cronin describes Mugshots as a family-friendly restaurant. “We had originated as a bar in Hattiesburg, Miss., that just served a few hamburgers,” Cronin says. “But we’re now a full-blown restaurant that also offers gourmet sandwiches, pastas and salads—and just happens to offer drinks.” Mugshots opened a location in Covington Oct. 8, and Cronin says the franchise plans to expand throughout Louisiana. The franchise has 12 restaurants, most of which are in Mississippi and Alabama. —Rachel Alexander
