Modern installation reflects B.R. life
-
LSU art students this month have had the fortune of working with renowned land artist Rachel Hayes, who uses tents, window displays, ethnic textiles, stained glass, flags and patterns in nature to transform an architectural structure into a modern painting. Her international works include an installation at the Circulo de Bellas Artes, a cultural nonprofit in Madrid (as pictured). Meet Hayes on Saturday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and experience her site-specific installation, Patient Persistence, which reflects the Baton Rouge cityscape of construction, dust, concrete buildings and wire fences. The installation will be at Glassell Gallery inside the Shaw Center until March 29. Mark the date for a talk with Hayes on March 7 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Free and open to the public.
