Michael Pasquier – Assistant Professor of Religious Studies, LSU
Age: 33
Children: From left, Peter, age 2, Mick, age 4, and Sara, age 6
Spouse: Kristen Carbo Pasquier
My biggest challenge: Like many parents, I’m away from home a lot. My challenge is to be truly present when I’m with my children, whether it’s changing diapers, reading book after book or playing in a ditch when it rains.
Advice for other busy dads: For many of us, we are never ready for parenthood, and we never will be. My advice is to hold on tight and love with all your might.
A lesson from my father: He encouraged me to think and act independently, but also responsibly. I try—and often fail—to encourage my children to do for others before they do for themselves.

How we connect: We read a lot. And we tell stories to each other. The imaginations of my children never cease to amaze me. They are my teachers.
