Manpower, tools needed for Arbor Day plantings
Friday is Louisiana’s Arbor Day, and this year is especially important as Greater Baton Rouge lost thousands of trees to hurricanes last year. The LSU School of the Coast & Environment needs extra manpower to plant vegetation and dozens of large trees as part of the Woodlawn High wetland creation project. Volunteers can bring tools such as rakes, shovels and gloves to Woodlawn High at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The plantings will continue each weekend until the project is complete. Drinks and snacks are provided. Call Dr. Robert Lane at 247-3917 for details.
