Make ‘strides’ against cancer and obesity

The Capital Community Health Fair and “Walk from Obesity” take place this Saturday at the Louisiana State Museum downtown. The fair will feature health education, speakers, and live music from U4ria, the Hip-hop Doc and local rapper Dee-1. The museum will be open during the event, and no admission will be charged. The Walk from Obesity’s registration starts at 8:30 a.m. and the walk starts at 9 a.m. To register early for the walk, visit walkfromobesity.com and click on “Join a Walk.” And in the town of Sulphur, the American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” walk will take place on Saturday at Heritage Square on Ruth Street. This noncompetitive five-mile walk is family-friendly and guaranteed to be lots of fun. Registration begins at 7 a.m. and the walk starts at 8 a.m.
