Make some ‘BROOM’ at the Varsity

Friday, The Varsity will host “BROOM,” a lineup of local bands eager to make their mark on Baton Rouge’s music scene. First up is Motherlode, an old-school rock band heavily influenced by delta blues. Then, groove to Onion Loaf, a funk-jam band whose rhythms are fresh and solid. Next up is The Broken Rubber Band, a rock-jazz ensemble who’ll keep you swinging until the night closes with Captain Green, an epic jam band. Doors open at 8 p.m., show begins at 9.
