Major lasers
Composer and digital media artist Nick Hwang, one of 225‘s People to Watch in 2012, is bringing something different to this year’s Blues Festival. And by different, we mean lasers.
On Saturday, April 13, festival-goers will not only hear world-class guitarists and vocalists like Robert Randolph and C.C. Adcock, they will have the chance to interact with sound like never before.
Hwang’s project, conceived with partners Sarah Jones and Tom LaPann, is slated to be in front of the Old State Capitol on North Boulevard. It will invite curiosity-seekers inside a cavernous paper construction where they can control tones and music by touching a series of laser light beams and tubes. Festival organizer Chris Brooks hopes to have a few blues licks included, too.

“Depending on their location and movement, visitors will contribute together to create a unique interactive sound space,” Hwang says. batonrougebluesfestival.org
