Lucy’s coming to Red Stick – What’s new

A restaurant that began its life on the upper west side of New York City in 1985 migrated to New Orleans after the cost of renting the building got too high. Since then, Bruce Rampick has been serving up Southern California fare in the warehouse district of the Crescent City at Lucy’s Retired Surfers Bar and Restaurant. “I decided to open a Baton Rouge location because I have two daughters in college, one at LSU and one at Our Lady of the Lake,” Rampick says. Lucy’s will occupy the 3rd Street space that was formerly D’Agostino’s Restaurant. “We’re removing the façade, and a huge area in front will be converted into covered outdoor seating,” says Rampick. The eatery’s atmosphere is tropical and fun, with a menu that includes standard fare such as burgers, salads and a selection for the kids. But Lucy’s also offers a doggy menu. Owners can order snacks for their pooches while dining outside, not unlike the Bulldog in Southdowns Village, another dog-friendly New Orleans transplant. Lucy’s is set to open by the end of September.
