LSU School of Music celebrates ‘Singo de Mayo’

The LSU School of Music brings its spring season to a close with Singo de Mayo Sunday at the LSU Union Theatre at 7:30 p.m. The event includes a jaunt through Broadway favorites and new classics. Tickets are $20. The ensemble includes nearly four dozen students from diverse majors and is directed by faculty member Terry Patrick-Harris. Mason Griffin, a Baton Rouge native who works in New York City, will be on hard as pianist, coach and conductor for the show.

Ryan Harris & Friends. Red Dragon Listening Room hosts local talents. 7:30 p.m. $5 suggested donation.
LSU Jazz Ensemble. A free performance of selections by Duke Ellington and collaborator Billy Strayhorn at the Hartley/Vey Studio Theatre. Attendees are invited to tour “The Visual Blues” exhibit at the LSU Museum of Art before and after the performance. 7:30 p.m.
David Nail, Sam Hunt. Country singers perform at The Varsity. Tickets are $20. Doors open at 8 p.m.

Rock N Rowe. The Justin Adams Band performs at Perkins Rowe’s Town Square Park as part of the free concert series. 6 p.m.-9 p.m.
The Void. Enjoy blues music at Henry Turner Jr.’s Listening Room (2733 North St.). 8 p.m.
Pacifico, Reststop Sweetheart. Local rock bands perform at The Library at Northgate (136 W. Chimes St.). $5 for ages 21 and older, $8 for ages 12-20. 8 p.m.
Modern Language, Hazy Ray, The Van Der Beeks. Funk bands perform at Mud and Water. $7. 9 p.m.

Live After Five. Rock and reggae band Long Neck Society performs at the free concert series at North Boulevard’s Town Square. 5 p.m.
LSU Symphony Orchestra with the LSU A Cappella Choir and Schola Contorum. The annual concert features a perform of The Requiem, Op. 9 by Maurice Durufle as well as LSU music student and winner of the LSU School of Music Concerto Competition Oscar Rossignoli performing Ravel’s Concerto in G. Tickets are $20. 7:30 p.m.
Startisan, Shayliff, The Hitchhiker, Adam Dale & The Sad Bastards. Local rock bands perform at The Varsity. Tickets are $10. Doors open at 8 p.m. The show starts at 9 p.m.

TOBACCO, Stargazer Lillies, Slomile Swift. Psychedelic, electronic dance bands perform at Spanish Moon next Tuesday. Tickets are $13.
