LSU MOA presents ‘Faces of Pride’

Continuing at the LSU Museum of Art this weekend, visitors can view the power of artist Elizabeth Catlett’s work in the exhibition Faces of Pride. Early on in her artistic education, Elizabeth Catlett was instructed to paint what she knew best. This philosophy remains integral throughout her artwork today. In an artistic career spanning over seven decades, Catlett has created numerous sculptures, drawings, and prints that celebrate African-American and Mexican women, from nurturing mothers to strong workers. Regardless of the medium or the subject, her works capture an enduring sense of pride and strength that continues to resonate for viewers today. On display through August 26. lsumoa.com
