Lovable ‘Lorax’
Dr. Seuss’ 1971 children’s book, The Lorax, arrives on big screens everywhere this Friday in a brand new 3D animated adventure. Taking cues from that era’s budding environmentalism, The Lorax is an occasionally dark look at the downside of doom-and-gloom disaster theories and a parody of the potential misanthropy that Seuss saw in modern ecology. From the directors of Despicable Me, this future-set adaptation follows a young boy in search of a mythical creature, the Lorax, that he hopes will help him find an actual, living tree, and win the girl of his dreams. The film features the vocal talents of Danny DeVito, Zac Efron, Ed Helms and Taylor Swift among many others. Rated PG.
