Baton Rouge's #1 lifestyle magazine since 2005

Long Distance: Jason Stine

Here: I wrote feature articles as an intern with the Baton Rouge Business Report in 2000 and 2001.

There: Right now, I’m a segment producer for Good Morning America in New York, N.Y.

When did you leave Baton Rouge?

In November 2001, I got a UK work permit and worked in London as a researcher for a financial journal. I parlayed that into a TV news career in New York.

?What do you miss about Baton Rouge?

Tony Chachere’s (you can only find it in expensive specialty shops here), Raising Cane’s and KLSU radio.

?What don’t you miss about Baton Rouge?

That’s an easy one—the traffic on College Drive. In fact, I love that I don’t even need a car up here.

?What does your new city have that you wish Baton Rouge had?

I have to admit, I’ve gotten pretty spoiled by the smoking ban in New York. Also, I wish Baton Rouge’s humidity was as low as is it here. It really makes a difference.

?What’s essential when you come back to visit?

Going back to an earlier response, I’d crank up KLSU, hit the drive-thru at Cane’s and then sprinkle my lunch with some Tony’s.

?When were you in town last?

Hoo boy, I want to say I flew in there last Christmas on the way to visit my folks in Lake Charles … maybe. In other words, I guess it’s been too long.
