Local bars and restaurants celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

Baton Rouge’s Wearin’ of the Green Parade kicks off this weekend. The annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration is a local specialty, and some area restaurants and bars will be hosting their own parties to ring in the holiday.

Juban’s and Huey’s will team up for a block party Saturday starting at 7 a.m. in the Juban’s parking lot (3739 Perkins Rd.). The party will feature music from David St. Romain, Chase Tyler Band, The Anteeks, The Gillis Silo Band and Perkins Road. Tickets are $10. You must be 21 to enter.

Galatoire’s Bistro will also host a party in its parking lot (3535 Perkins Rd.) Saturday at 8:30 a.m. The event will feature food and drinks as well as live music by The Michael Foster Project, The Chris LeBlanc Band, The Rusty Yates Band and Hazy Ray.

Elsewhere along the parade route, Ivar’s will open at 8 a.m., serving pizza only and Jameson and vodka drink specials. Duvic’s will open at 8 a.m. Chelsea’s Café, the “unofficial” center of the St. Patrick’s Day festivities, will open at 8 a.m. with drink specials and host beer and food trucks as well as open its backyard. The kitchen will be closed.

The LSU Kappa Deltas will also be selling jambalaya for $8 to raise money for Prevent Child Abuse America at numerous locations along the parade route—at the house (3950 W. Lakeshore Dr.), Billy Heroman’s (1946 Perkins Rd.), Catholic Life Center (1800 S. Acadian Thruway) and Cracker Barrel (3030 Perkins Rd.).
