Lincoln lives in West B.R.

The name of Lincoln is invoked in politics quite a lot these days, so perhaps it’s appropriate that two nationally-touring exhibits about the man are visiting the West Baton Rouge Museum right now. Abraham Lincoln: A Man of His Time, A Man for All Times takes a deeper look at the man behind the myth through Lincoln’s letters, speeches, and proclamations, and runs through September 6th. Abraham Lincoln: Self-Made in America guides the visitor through Lincoln’s life as a truly self-made man, and runs through September 11th. Several reproduction objects are on display, as well as original items from Lincoln’s time. And Thursday, at the West Baton Rouge Library, you can catch a special lecture about our 16th president by historian Dr. Henry Robertson, with a free tour of the museum to follow. 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Free to the public, refreshments served.
