Like patchwork – Andrea Loest turns disheveled into stylish

Marrying stylist Paul Eastin of Paris Parker Salon brought Andrea Loest, an Iowa native, to Baton Rouge recently. In the midst of moving, the fashion designer has kept experimenting.

“How can we make clothes do something different?” is her question, her challenge, her approach to every piece.

As fashion repeats itself in shapes, shades and themes, it can be trying to find something new. Loest and her husband work together to find that new look, that new concept, each and every season.

Loest’s goal for her concept line, called Andrea Loest, is to reform the manner in which we see our interchangeable shells.

It’s the same for the ready-to-wear Fair Fit line she has created with Eastin. The couple plans to concentrate on menswear with Fair Fit by outfitting the rugged, rogue gentlemen of the South in a fight against conformity.

The fable of Snow White and its recent film adaptation, which starred Kristen Stewart, inspired the Fall/Winter 2013 Andrea Loest Collection.

The purposefully disheveled look of each piece allowed Eastin to create wispy hair and ice-queen illusion masks. The couple wants more than just a fashion show each season; they want a wearable art exhibit. andrealoest.com

Loest and Eastin offer a variety of classes on design, from color, content and digital creations to studio sessions that teach future designers how best to get started. For more information, visit fairfit.com.
