Hollywood lost one of its kindest comedians this year with the death of Bernie Mac. In Soul Men, his penultimate performance, Mac plays a middle-aged soul legend that reunites with his estranged friend, Samuel L. Jackson, after the death of their former bandleader. Sadly, genuine soul legend Isaac Hayes passed away the same week as Mac, and he appears as well in this Motown-flavored musical. Mike Epps and John Legend co-star. Rated R.
