Leatherheads puts Clooney in the director’s chair

-

George Clooney’s third directorial effort sees the star make a sharp turn into a period romantic comedy. Set in the 1920s at the dawn of professional football, Clooney stars as an aging gladiator of the gridiron vying for the affections of Renee Zellweger’s cub reporter who happens to have a crush on the team’s new star, a young war hero played by John Krasinski of The Office. Part zany Coen Brothers comedy, part A League of Their Own, all farce. In theaters Friday. Rated PG-13. (Photo credit: Melinda Sue Gordon)
