Laughter, the best medicine

Baton Rouge native Katie East, now a regular on the New York City comedy circuit, returns home on Thursday to perform her one-woman show Sick Girl and Other Freaks of Nature at the Manship Theatre’s Hartley-Vey Studio space. East survived a childhood in which she was in and out of hospitals, and as a young adult, she overcame malignant melanoma. What else could she do but laugh?
