Justice getting some Steel?
In theaters Friday: Killing Them Softly
New on Blu-ray/DVD: Lawless, ParaNorman, Step Up: Revolution
Ever since Marvel’s The Avengers racked up nearly $1.5 billion worldwide, archrival DC Comics has been grappling with how to combine its own constellation of super heroes into a single mega-blockbuster team-up movie. With Christopher Nolan’s self-sustaining Dark Knight trilogy officially done and dusted and the Nolan-produced, Zack Snyder-directed Superman reboot Man of Steel on its way next year, the stage seems set for DC to finally bring a worthwhile version of The Justice League to the big screen in 2014 or 2015.
Comparisons with The Avengers are inevitable, but based on recent comments by Snyder, his darker and more personal vision of Superman—his almost elegiac, Terrence Malick-esque version will star English thespian Henry Cavill—could actually inform the tone of The Justice League more so than its flashy, comical competitor.

Talking recently to the New York Post, Snyder, for the very first time, hinted that his upcoming film could pave the way for some Justice. What that likely means is that Man of Steel will be stand-alone in nature but still leave the door open for Superman to collaborate with other DC stars in the future. Basically, if Man of Steel is a hit, then The Justice League is a go.
The only question is who will wear all those capes? Which actors and which characters would you like to see in The Justice League? Wonder Woman, Flash, Martian Manhunter and of course Batman are all in the mix. Is the world ready for a live action Aquaman? Only if he’s played by this guy.
Man of Steel arrives June 13.
